“Exciting and very different”
is how Rick Bowen of the Messenger described Gareth Evans music. The
24-year-old singer/songwriter/musician began playing guitar when he
was 15. “I remember sitting in my cousins house when I was
15 not knowing where I was going in life, unsure about anything.
My cousin played me a song called “Wonderwall” by Oasis. That instant
I knew that was what I wanted to do in life. Since then I’ve never
looked back.” Totally committed to the path he chose, Gareth
sought training to improve his skills. In addition to playing guitar,
Gareth is also a classically trained pianist. He’s worked with a vocal
coach and completed a two-year Music Technology course at City College in
Manchester, England. After being a member of several bands, he decided
to go solo in 2001.
In 2004 he released a compilation CD of
his material in the pop/rock genre. Currently, he’s experimenting with
writing classical music and refining his engineering/production skills.
“Music is my life, its what I live for,
what I get up for in the morning. Some people get up in the morning
wanting to be the next Bill Gates; some people want to drive a taxi.
I just want to do music. I believe music is more than just notes, its
food for the soul. It heals.”
